Our Law Firm was founded by attorney William J. Leininger in 1981. In 1974, he graduated from Fordham Law School with the rank of #1 in his Evening Division. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1975, and was subsequently admitted to the Bar of New Jersey several years later. He has been licensed to practice law in Florida since 1988. He resides in Sarasota, Florida.
Mr. Leininger became a Divorce Mediator in 1994. Since then, he has mediated over 800 cases to completion. Mr. Leininger is a Founding Member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators, and is also a member of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators. He is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator. Many of Mr. Leininger' s mediation cases have involved substantial assets, businesses and professional practices, sometimes involving millions of dollars. He has an intimate knowledge of Civil Service pensions, including the pensions of police and firefighters and school teachers and school administrators, as well as State and Federal retirement plans. Many of Mr. Leininger' s clients are couples with assets, including pensions, 401k plan accounts, stock options, homes, and businesses or professional practices worth between $1 million and $5 million dollars.
Collaborative practice is a private form of dispute resolution. Each client has his or her own attorney. The attorneys can only be used for purposes of reaching an out-of-court agreement. This means that no time, energy, or money is spent on opposition research, trying to tear down the other parent, or preparing for an expensive trial. If spouses are unable to reach an agreement in the collaborative process, they cannot use their collaborative attorneys to fight against each other in court. Fortunately, a study by the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals has shown that 90% of collaborative cases end in a full agreement between the clients.
Mr. Leininger received his Collaborative Divorce training over 7 years ago and has handled Collaborative Divorces since then, and has lectured about Collaborative Divorce.
Since 1981 when he founded his own law firm, 100% of his legal practice has been devoted to Family Law. Mr. Leininger has always felt that it is better to specialize in one legal field than to be a “Jack of All Trades , but a Master of None”!
Since 1991, Mr. Leininger has personally handled over 2,000 divorces. Many of those divorces have involved bitter custody disputes and substantial assets. Over 25% of those divorce cases involved assets of between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Several of his divorces have involved assets of over $20,000,000.00. He has also represented many spouses involving businesses and professional medical practices.
Mr. Leininger has appeared on the Today Show on NBC, the CBS Morning Show, the Phil Donahue Show, the Sally Jesse Raphael Show and other national television and radio programs, and has lectured on Divorce for over 40 years.
We believe that Mr. Leininger is one of the most experienced Divorce attorneys in Sarasota, and his legal fees are very reasonable for an attorney with his experience.
